Essential
Oils Defined
Essential Oils are formed in the green, chlorophyll-bearing parts of the plant and with plant growth are transported to other tissues, particularly to flowering shoots. They serve as the “life blood” of the plant. True essential oils are the extract of the essence of the plant, shrub, bark, or tree. It is the most concentrated energy of the plant. They are usually 50 to 100 times more concentrated than the plant itself. Essential oils are truly gifts of pure, powerful reservoirs of natural, earth energies that have undisputed influences on the body, mind, and soul.
Essential
oils are obtained mainly through a process called steam distillation.
Steam distillation is when very tiny molecules evaporate as the plant
material is heated, and it is these molecules that make up a true essential oil.
As you begin using 100%
essential oils, you will notice that they are not greasy.
They are soothing and quickly absorbed by the skin.
Do not be fooled by distributors that sell synthetic “essential oils”
that never originated from the earth, and therefore do not have any medicinal
value. Imitations are usually
cheap, easily made, produce headaches, are greasy, and unfortunately make up a
grand portion of the ingredients in 90% of the “essential oils” sold in the
United States. You will shortly
find that true essential oils have an important use in medicine for their pain
relieving, antibiotic, antiseptic, and antiviral properties.
